Electrical and Computer Engineering graduates at Lafayette have a variety of career options.
While many students begin a career in industry immediately, others choose to pursue graduate study first. Students work with Lafayette’s Gateway Career Center to identify career opportunities for both internships and permanent positions and accept positions at a wide range of companies. Students continuing to graduate study are accepted into some of the nation’s premier research universities.
Professional Paths
Michael '24 works for Preston Controls, a controls engineering company. His work involves PLC programming, data systems, motion control, and machine safety for large machinery (ex: palletizers, grinding machines, and other fabrication equipment). Jack Horowitz '24 is an electrical design engineer on the NXE Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) Lithography new product development team with ASML. Josh Virtell ‘22 is a test engineer at Thorlabs working on automating final assembly test processes and improving PCB level test capabilities. This includes investing in key pieces of capital equipment such as a flying probe machine. Michala Dennis '24 is an engineering technician for Northrop Grumman in Linthicum, MD. She is also pursuing her M.S. in computer engineering at the George Washington University with a focus in computer architecture and high-performance computing. Sam Fowler '24 is an associate engineer at Sargent and Lundy. He designs substations for utility companies. This includes working with green field and brown field projects which encompass designing new substations, transformer and circuit breaker replacements, line upgrades, etc. Some Recent Placements
